- Citronella Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stems of the Cymbopogon species of plants, particularly Cymbopogon nardus. Renowned for its insect-repellent properties, it serves as a plant-based insect repellent and bio-pesticide with a non-toxic mode of action, registered for this use in the USA since 1948.
- Mainly produced in Indonesia and China, these countries together account for about 40% of the world’s citronella essential oil.
- Apart from insect repellent properties, this oil is beneficial for excessive perspiration, oily skin and hair, and acts as a deodorant. It soothes pain due to rheumatism and arthritis, and helps resist flu, colds, and minor infections.
